Read what the author has to say about her latest book below. It has been said that one of the keys to longevity is keeping the mind healthy and active with new challenges. Time Keepers: 365 Motivational Challenges and Activities, a remarkable activity workbook put together by Pam Bertagnolli, makes it easy and fun to stimulate the mind, body, and spirit. Presented in calendar format but not specific to any year, this book can be used the very day it is received. Bertagnolli first conceived of the idea for Time Keepers after spending time with an eighty-three-year-old friend who said she tried to do something every day to challenge herself. "I wanted to provide older people with an attractive, entertaining, and useful tool that encourages diverse daily activity," says Bertagnolli, who has worked as an assisted living supervisor and general manager for a large retirement community. Each page of the book includes a photograph, inspirational quotation, and sections to list appointments, special occasions, and things to do. The main focus is a challenge for each day that is meant to be enlightening, interesting, fun, and inspiring. Challenges include such things as calling a friend or family member you have not spoken to in more than five years, sharing your most significant childhood memory, and going out for Chinese food and using chopsticks to eat it. A journal section encourages users to record their responses to the challenge or perhaps write about what is going on in their lives on that particular day. The author points out that there is another important aspect to this book: "It will serve as a memory book for loved ones," Bertagnolli explains. "It will also provide a way for you to share your thoughts and desires with family and friends after you are gone."
